Webcomic Blogs List and Directory

This is a useful list of webcomic blogs.

People often start blogs and then quit them. Unfortunately, links to them don't disappear, so they keep turning up in search results. This makes it hard for people to find functioning blogs, especially webcomic blogs, where the search engines confuse us with the many blogs about print comics.

Some of these webcomic blogs update multiple times a week and some can go weeks without updating. However, they all focus on webcomics, and they have been around for a while and have something to offer.

This site updates at minimum monthly, unless there is nothing to change.

Recent changes: MPD57 ceased publishing. Red Right Hand is not answering inquiries but will remain on the list a bit longer.

Webcomic Blogs:

ArtPatient - Reviews that are among the best and most sensitive, occasional commentary. Smaller titles stand a review chance here.
Blog of Last Resort - specializes in how-to and personal comic news. No reviews.
Comic Fencing - Multiple reviewers tackling the same title drew interest during its first seven months, but over-reliance on the good will of volunteers left survival in doubt as of December 2008.
Comixtalk - magazine-style blog with stories, interviews and difficult navigation. Some conflict of interest questions raised by decision of journalist/owner to participate as comics contest judge.
Damn Good Comics - reviews and commentary, sporadic
Digital Comics News - source for news about digital comics & graphic novels, reading comics on portable gadgets, and video games based on comics.
Digital Strips - groups written, new, reviews and commentary. One of the better quick-read blogs, but arguably a little lazy on hard news fact-finding. Claims to journalism should probably be restricted to Feature Journalism.
Fleen - Inconsistent. Focus is on friends' work with some other mentions as window dressing. Reporting unreliable; does not correct or retract stories found in error.  Unlikely to review your comic.
Floating Lightbulb - updates 7 days; news, commentary, reviews, interviews, how-to. My blog -- form your own opinion.
KEZ - webcomicks how-to, optimization and tech tips
Online Comics - enthusiastic capsule reviews
Red Right Hand's Bloody and Brutal Webcomics Reviews - Reviews by request. Will review adult/mature themes. Recently stopped responding to inquiries. Await further developments.
Tangents - infrequent but long pieces analyzing and reviewing
This Week In Webcomics - new, recent reviews every Wednesday and Friday. Not sure of the value of hearing what happened in episode 21 of some comic this week. Enthusiastic.
Webcomic Asylum - reviews, interviews and commentary
Webcomic Finds - reviews (recently resumed publishing on an occasional basis)
Webcomics Overlook - energetic reviews and commentary. Among the better reviewers.
WebSnark - Once famous webcomics blog is now infrequent. Publishes occasional long pieces on variety of topics.
Zhi - reviews from Australia

Also consider:

The Daily Cartoonist - hard news; webcomics coverage is occasional at best
Talk About Comics - mostly announcements from ComicSpace co-owner Joey Manley and associates
The Beat - Digest of news briefs pertaining to comics of all types. Most links on site are obsolete. Often permeated by an
arrogant tone.

Of special interest:

Psychedelic Treehouse is a resource for all things webcomic, featuring a sizable webcomic links list, articles, how-to, art, portal lists and reprints of the best interviews, critical essays and reviews from participating webcomic blogs.

The Directory of Webcomic Collectives, housed at Psychedelic Treehouse, is another great source for locating comics, often by theme.

The Psychedelic Treehouse Webcomic Blog Directory is a more detailed, illustrated version of this list and may be the preferable bookmark.

If you're writing a webcomic blog and you are not listed here, go to Floating Lightbulb, pull my email from the right hand column, and drop me a line. If you don't like how I summarized your blog, don't be put off -- let me know. The goal is balance and honesty, and I am open to your thoughts.

If you want to know more about the guy who keeps this site up, you might enjoy scouting my webcomics. Scratchin Post is a weekly about colorful, quirky characters in a small town. Li'l Nyet is a comedy about the clash between human ideals and human nature. It appears five days a week.

WebcomicsCollage.com is worth a look if you do a webcomic.
